Genies |Come And Go

Walking on a seashore on a foreign holiday

Cataloging shells along the bay

I stumbled on a bottle and much to my surprise

I held my breath and watched the genie rise

Three wishes he would grant me though I would have my way

He cautioned of the price that I must pay

For surely you’ll be happy when you’ve made you choices clear

But keep in mind that time still passes here

Oh these many years that I have come to dream

Though peace and love and progress hoped to find

I never knew how easily these could come to be

You’ve only to imagine with your mind

Allow your soul to be returned in kind

As satellites and wishing stars pass overhead rejoice

Though genies come and go we have a choice

Brave are those among us who would fight until the death

Let us be reminded it was not at their request

Politics it comes and goes and wars rage on insane

Compromise is viewed as weakness just the same

It’s a wonder that we’ve made it a miracle perceived

The threads of life are added to the weave
